Leobit helped a Kuwait-based legaltech company optimize and modernize its SaaS CRM platform for legal firms. The system involves functionality for managing legal case documents, evidence, and recordings, as well as scheduling meetings. Our work on this project was primarily focused on optimizing the system’s infrastructure, building CI/CD pipelines, and setting up different system environments.
We were very satisfied with the technical expertise displayed with the Leobit team. They’ve made a very deep technical assessment and did great work based on these results. With the input from Leobit, we managed to restructure our approach and start doing things in a more modern way.
Customer
The client is a Kuwait-based legaltech company providing a SaaS platform for law firms in the country, with plans to expand across the Middle East. They already had a strong base of end customers but wanted to modernize their solution and upskill their tech team to support the expansion.
Business Challenge
The client wanted to establish a more reliable foundation for the continuous development of their solution. They also sought to help their existing technical team adopt modern software environment management practices. In particular, our customer needed to implement a more flexible architecture that would support experimentation and the addition of new features without introducing significant risk.
Why Leobit
The client wanted experienced specialists to guide both them and their team, and they were impressed by the expertise demonstrated by the Leobit team. We proposed beginning the engagement with a comprehensive code assessment to establish a solid foundation for the subsequent development of the solution’s infrastructure and DevOps workflows. Technology alignment was another key factor: the customer’s platform was already running on Azure, and Leobit brought extensive experience in this area as a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Digital & App Innovation and Data & AI.
Project
in detail
While working on the project, our team had 3 main tasks, namely assessing the customer’s existing solution, modernizing their infrastructure and workflows, and knowledge transfer.
Our specialists thoroughly assessed the customer’s existing infrastructure and codebase. After that, the team prepared a comprehensive brief with suggestions for improvements and recommended integrations that would fit the customer’s long-term system development goals.
Our software engineers optimized the solution by setting up a new project with a clean Web API architecture, custom-written unit tests, and different environments. Without altering the solution’s functionality, we made substantial changes under the hood to ensure the system’s long-term reliability and relevance.
The customer already had a team of engineers familiar with the product, but wanted them to adopt more flexible practices for working with a modernized system infrastructure. We held several knowledge-sharing sessions to help the client’s developers understand the new approach and learn the practices that would enable them to develop and maintain the modernized solution efficiently.
Strong Deployment Strategy
To reduce risk and eliminate downtime during releases, we implemented a blue-green deployment strategy alongside clearly separated development, QA, staging, and production environments. This setup allowed the customer’s team to test new releases in a production-like environment before switching live traffic over, with the ability to roll back instantly if any issues arose. This approach gave the customer greater confidence in shipping updates without disrupting law firms actively using the platform.
DevOps Optimization
Our engineers built CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to automate testing, builds, and deployments across all environments. This allowed us to replace what had previously been a largely manual release process, accelerating the release of new features. The pipelines were designed to scale alongside the customer’s plans for expansion into new Middle Eastern markets.
New Project Infrastructure
Our specialists restructured the project by setting up a clean Web API architecture that standardizes system integration and data exchange. Our specialists also introduced unit testing to ensure code reliability from the outset. We implemented full CRUD functionality for a core entity as a blueprint for the rest of the system to ensure efficient and consistent data management. These improvements gave the customer a more resilient technical foundation to build on as they scale.
