Xamarin.Forms reached end-of-life, creating urgent security and technical risks. The client needed modernization to a supported framework without losing existing functionality or disrupting operations.

Project
in detail
The entire project took us around 5 months to complete and could be roughly divided into three stages.
We started the project with a comprehensive analysis of the existing application. This proved to be one of the most challenging phases because the solution lacked proper documentation and could no longer be launched due to the end of Xamarin.Forms support. As a result, we had to reconstruct the app’s business logic, functionality, and requirements through client workshops, source code analysis, and additional research. Based on these findings, our UI/UX designer created a series of wireframes that captured the application’s core features and user flows. After customer approval, these wireframes became the primary reference point for the migration team throughout the project.
We set up a clean .NET MAUI solution with DI, logging, and back-end integrations. Our specialists started from migrating 15–20 essential screens covering primary user flows, such as login, product browse, and checkout. We also ran several integrations, such as Stripe for payments or Google Maps and Apple Maps for interactive map naviating to improve the solution. Our team also used SignalR to recreate the app’s chat functionality with significant improvements. As a result, the customer received a working .NET MAUI build that validated core navigation and business logic.
Once we finalized the migration of the core app, we started working on optimizing and stabilizing the solution. We are currently converting Xamarin.Forms renderers to .NET MAUI handlers. We also optimize payment gateways, advanced UI components, and platform-specific APIs. We plan to deploy the solution once the comprehensive testing across iOS/Android devices is finished.
Successful Migration to .NET MAUI
The customer’s produce e-commerce app now runs on .NET MAUI across iOS and Android, eliminating the security and obsolescence risks of Xamarin.Forms. The migration preserved all back-end integrations, such as product data feeds, order processing, payment gateways, and customer authentication, while modernizing the codebase. The app builds and deploys cleanly to both platforms without legacy framework bottlenecks and seamlessly integrates with varying services, such as Google Maps or Apple Maps.
Complete Reconstruction of Core Business Logic
The .NET MAUI version retains the original application’s business logic by updating its functionality. The solution supports workflows for two user categories — farmers and buyers. All core e-commerce workflows operate identically: product catalog browsing, inventory management, order checkout, and an in-app chat. We also included an updated and convenient map functionality allowing users to locate nearby farms across the US North-East. As a result, no critical function is lost, while user experience improves with a modernized interface prepared by our team.
