About Project

Leobit helps Sherpas Design build a cookie consent app that lets Shopify merchants collect and log GDPR- and CCPA-compliant consent. The solution blocks tracking scripts like Google Analytics and Meta Pixel until shoppers opt in. Beyond closing legal risk, proper consent management keeps ad and conversion data clean, giving merchants more reliable analytics to act on.

Customer

Sherpas Design is a Shopify-focused e-commerce agency and technology provider. The company supports Shopify merchants through consultancy services and software products that enhance their operations. With several Shopify products already in its stack, Sherpas Design set out to add a cookie consent app to the lineup.

Business Challenge

Sherpas Design had assembled an internal team to build the consent app but needed outside expertise to get it right. Specifically, they needed experts with strong .NET development skills to ensure the solution matched their business logic and held up against industry compliance standards.

Why Leobit

Sherpas Design were satisfied with Leobit’s deep technical expertise, particularly with .NET, which was one of the primary frameworks used for building their solution.

in detail

Leobit’s specialist worked directly alongside Sherpas Design’s team, using Claude AI throughout both planning and coding.

Project in detail

Claude helped structure information on consent policies, different types of cookies, and tracking scripts, such as Google Analytics and Meta Pixel. It also helped shape the project plan, giving the team a clear framework for how the banner needed to behave across different compliance regimes before development started.

The team built the solution as a consent banner, using .NET and Node.js on the back end and React.js on the front end. The proof of concept, covering the core consent management features, shipped four months after the collaboration began. Claude was applied throughout to automate and accelerate coding and some validation workflows.

Planned next steps include an interactive admin panel where Shopify merchants can view consent statistics and analytical data. Additionally, the customer is planning to introduce an AI-enabled translation to extend the consent banner across languages.

Consent Banner

The consent banner, core to the product, is built with .NET and Node.js on the back end and React.js on the front end. It sits on the Shopify storefront and blocks tracking scripts like Google Analytics and Meta Pixel from firing until a shopper makes a choice. Shoppers can accept all cookies, reject all, or customize their preferences by category, and every choice is logged for compliance records.

The PoC banner with core consent management features shipped four months into the collaboration, with Claude used throughout to accelerate coding. In the future, we will probably introduce AI workflows that will translate the banner in different languages.

Admin Panel with Statistics

The admin panel is planned as the next phase of the solution. It will give merchants a dashboard to review consent activity without digging through raw logs. Its primary goals include surfacing opt-in and opt-out rates, breaking consent down by cookie category, and showing trends over time. That visibility will help merchants understand how their tracking data holds up under real shopper behavior and adjust their banner or policies accordingly.
