Leobit helped a leading US-based provider of Azure consultancy services with additional expertise to help them optimize their data management. The customer has a sophisticated data infrastructure involving client project data, multi-tenant datasets from customer implementations, Azure service usage and billing data across client accounts, benchmarking data, etc. They needed to get a unified view of distributed data and enhance their analytical workflows. To achieve these goals, our specialists helped the customer migrate from Azure Synapse Analytics to Microsoft Fabric.

We helped the customer migrate their complex data infrastructure in a relatively short time. The new architecture, centered around Microsoft Fabric, is built with consistency and transparency in mind. As a result of our effort, the client gets better and more comprehensive insights into their distributed data.

Customer

The customer is a US-based Azure cloud consulting company with decades of industry experience. They currently specialize in advisory consulting and hands-on implementation services for application, data, and integration ecosystems.

Business Challenge

The customer needed additional expertise, particularly with Microsoft Fabric, to optimize their data workflows. In particular, they wanted to configure a more transparent and manageable reporting layer for distributed data.

Why Leobit

As a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Data & AI, we have demonstrated advanced expertise in applying Microsoft technologies for analytics and data engineering. In this particular case, the customer was especially impressed by our proficiency with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Factory.

Project
in detail

We provided our dedicated Azure and data engineering specialists to extend the customer’s established team.

Project in details model

Our specialists’ first priority was getting up to speed with the customer’s existing data infrastructure rather than defining it from scratch. We reviewed the current Azure Synapse architecture and analyzed the data flows between client environments. Upon such smooth onboarding, our specialists started outlining the blueprint of the future architecture with Microsoft Fabric at its core.

Working alongside the customer’s engineers, our specialists led the migration of their data infrastructure from Azure Synapse Analytics to Microsoft Fabric. We helped the customer consolidate distributed data sets and integration pipelines into a unified environment. This included reconfiguring data pipelines built on Azure Data Factory to align with Fabric’s lakehouse architecture.

When the structured migration was complete, we shifted the focus toward improving the performance and transparency of the reporting layer. Leobit’s specialists worked with the customer’s team to optimize data models and enhance report refresh cycles in order to maximize the efficiency of the reporting layer built on Power BI.

Data Unification with Azure Data Factory

Data Unification with Azure Data Factory

Our specialist configured Azure Data Factory pipelines to consolidate data from the customer’s distributed sources into a single lakehouse environment. These included client project records, multi-tenant datasets, and Azure billing data. In the end, the customer’s team got a reliable, unified data foundation that keeps their analytics workflows running smoothly while still giving them the flexibility and control they need.

Consistent Analytics and Reporting

Consistent Analytics and Reporting

Our specialists helped the client restructure their reporting layer with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. Upon the migration from Azure Synapse Analytics, the client gained benefits like:

  • Simplified data access
  • Reduced pipeline complexity
  • Faster and more scalable BI reporting across the distributed data infrastructure

Reports across client accounts, project performance, and service usage are now based on standardized data models. This reduces inconsistencies and makes them much easier to maintain. Overall, this makes the client’s analytical layer more manageable and transparent.
